The NBA was the first major league to postpone its season. The NHL followed suit the next day and since then sports teams, leagues, schools, events and just about everything else have shut down as the worldwide pandemic
takes hold.
Our tech company, FanSaves, helps sports teams, schools, Chambers of Commerce, events and media (like Spotlight on Business) engage their audiences by offering them discounts and deals from their sponsors and advertisers.
“Our first thought was ‘Uh oh, this really isn’t good’ as we looked at each other and our team, processing the news and the weight of what was happening,” explained my FanSaves co-founder and our COO Kris McCarthy.
As clients and potential FanSaves customers continue to close down operations along with their sponsors and advertisers (like restaurants and retail stores) in an effort to flatten the curve, the FanSaves team is working around the clock to ensure they can be there for their partners once things get back to normal.
“We’ll be working from home, but we will also be working harder than ever before because we know that we can play a part in restoring the economy in the months ahead,” said McCarthy.
And that’s what we plan to do. FanSaves is dedicated to helping sponsors and advertisers bring people back into their establishments and with our couponing app we know that
we can help every day people save money while getting out and supporting these businesses that are increasingly affected.
As for our teams and organizations, we want to help get more fans, members and people in general supporting them once things settle down. We know the whole world is currently at a standstill and none of us really know what is going to happen, but we are focused on helping as much as we can when that happens.
One of our teams in North Dakota sent us a message of hope which lit an even bigger fire under us.
“As we plan for our recovery from the season being cancelled, FanSaves is a big part of it. I think a lot of industries are going to get knocked off their feet and FanSaves will be an inexpensive way to drive people back to our partners once everything bounces back to normal,” he expressed.
This gave us hope.
And since then many other partners, including Spotlight on Business, have reached out expressing similar sentiments and for that we are grateful. As a tech startup, we recognize the economic downfall that may be at all of our doorsteps, but we are dedicated to improving our processes and increasing the amount of help we can offer after this pandemic subsides.
We will be prepared to help the moment we can because we know we are all in this together. This is new to all of
us and we are all navigating these very scary times in our own ways but at the end of the day we need to have hope, we need to believe that our businesses will get through this. We need to keep fighting for our livelihoods and for each other.
Eventually, the NBA and NHL will be back in full swing. Events and gatherings will be allowed once again. And at FanSaves, we will be ready because we are dedicated to staying smart and quick on our feet while remaining safe and healthy until then. We encourage all business owners to do the same.
